Nârad-Dûm

Naraddum

Narad-Dûm was one of the few holds of the Blacklocks in the Tûr Betark.Early in the Third Age, strife and contention at the original settlement had caused a rift among the dwarves of Mablâd-dûm, their first War-hold. One faction moved to the southwestern portion of the Yellow Mountains to found Naragûldûm and another (Nâr son of Sadal’s Folk) founded Narad-dûm in the eastern peaks. It was located south of the Sára Básk in the eastern end of the Tûr Betark. This large mine served Nár's Folk and was third in prestige from Blacklocks mansions in the South.

By the early 12th century T.A. with the The Fifth of the Nazgûl’s forces turned loose in Sîrayn and the cities of Îsra and Cénnacatt attacked, Narad-Dum closed its doors to the outside world.By the mid 17th century the dwarves had reopened to the outside, traded with the Tyari and were looking for new purveyors to provide them with foodstuffs and other supplies. In the Third Age, it served also as a war-hold for the Axes of Nargubraz from T.A. 2800 to 2915. After that, it was sealed and not re-opened again.
