The steppes of Khand Khûrvesra (Var."Upper Khand") comprised the eastern and northern half of the region and enjoyed a slightly more hospitable environment with cooler temperatures, more rainfall and milder storms than the southern half, in fact it received twice the precipitation and a lot less heat than its larger and more important counterpart.Since the topography of Khand rose in the northern lands it was also a slightly more mountainous and hilly landscape the south.It's more numerous tribes were generally richer and more settled than their brethren to the west and south.Upper Khand's most prominent city was Ûbésêsh-ûta-Pavéter (Var. "Refuge from the Flailing Wind" )or simply Ûbésêsh standing only about 170 miles east and upstream from Sturlurza Khand and often acting as the realms principal city or temporary capital.Other important settlements were Obamarl, in the eastern lowlands of the Ered Glamhoth and Kyzilkum.
