Eldûn was a noble elven warrior of Doriath and the elder brother of Elrûn. During the Second Kinslaying at Doriath, he and Elrûn fought alongside Dior Eluchíl, but were both slain by Celegorm while defending their king.

Etymology[]

The Sindarin name is said to mean "West-star".

Notes[]

In The Shaping of Middle-earth, Eldûn was an earlier name of Eluréd. Since his brother’s name was Elrûn “East-star”, this name may be a combination of el “star” and dûn “west”.
