Cat o' nine tails

The cat of nine tails or simply the cat was a special whip used by the Black Númenóreans and the Corsairs of Umbar as a tool for physical punishment of slaves and underlings.It traditionally had nine thongs as a result of the manner in which rope was plaited and a claw attached to each thong.
