Bhalli the Rash (Ak. "Carver") was a respected Dwarf-lord among the tribe of King Druin the Proud. He was an adventuresome leader who is best known for founding the Dwarf-kingdom of Rûrîk in easternmost Middle-earth. His expedition out of Bûrskâdekdar in S.A. 700 resulted in the discovery of a secretive tunnel into the Walled Land, and Bhalli became the first figure ever to gaze upon the Great Vale tucked between the Mountains of the Wind and the Eastern Sea. Returning to the court of King Druin the Younger, he wisely convinced his mentor to establish his Kingdom in the protected valley.

Notes[]

  • The spelling of some names was altered to move away from pseudo-old Norse names, which represent the language of northern Rhovanion and would have been unknown to the eastern Dwarves.
    Original forms:
    • Balli → Bhalli
    • Drúin → Druin
    • Ruuriik → Rûrîk
